Region and Artistry
Gianluca Fabbro – Gianluca Fabbro was born in Italy in 1968. Since childhood, Gianluca has always had a passion for painting and creativity. He has worked with ceramics for over 30 years, learning the craft from his father and grandfather. While studying architecture in Venice at the age of 21, Gianluca’s father became ill, and he put his studies on hold to return home and take over the family business. Over the years, Gianluca has grown in his skills and further developed new techniques and patterns with the help of his fellow artisans and employees. As a maestro artisan, he created a unique sponging technique used to handpaint charming and beautiful designs on ceramic and has designed for some of the best retailers and importers throughout the world, including VIETRI. Gianluca loves art, traveling, and his family. He is constantly inspired by the beauty of nature, making the clay surface his canvas with ease and artistic passion.
Veneto – Veneto is situated in the northeastern corner of Italy. Home to Venice, rivers, lagoons, mountains, hills, and plains, the area is diverse and robust in history. Its close proximity to other countries and cultures has made it a unique region in Italy, and its ceramic production is distinctive and irreplaceable.
VIETRI
VIETRI’s story is a love affair… When Susan, Frances, and their mother, Lee Gravely, took their first trip to Italy in 1983, they fell in love with the Italian culture. During their stay at the San Pietro Hotel in Positano, they went to lunch and found themselves captivated by the hotel’s colorful, handcrafted dinnerware. The next day they arranged to meet the artisans at a nearby factory in the town of Vietri sul Mare. As they watched the artisans paint, glaze, and fire each piece by hand, they were inspired to share the treasure they had discovered. The Gravelys returned home with an array of pieces with mixed patterns all related to nature. The collection would become known as Campagna, VIETRI’s flagship dinnerware.
