Large Plate by La Chamba

SKU: 95216 Category: Tags: ,

La Chamba earthenware pottery is hand crafted according to traditional methods, using local clays. The name derives from the only village in which it is produced, situated along the Magdalena River in central Colombia. Each product is made by hand locally according to traditional methods.

Both practical and elegant, La Chamba pottery is suitable for serving or cooking and can be used in the oven and microwave as well as directly over flame.

The dark color of the pottery is due to the smoking process. No glaze layer is applied; rather they are painstakingly burnished by hand with stones. Please note that when heat is applied, the bottom surface may change color to the original red clay. Speckles and dimples are typical characteristics of the clay type, and pieces may exhibit variation due to the hand formation of the clay.

Seasoning: Before using the product for the first time, make sure to rinse it with water and then place in the oven half- lled with water for 30 minutes at 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Care: Please use water and a soft cloth or sponge for cleaning. Avoid abrasive cleaners and dishwashers.
